About lightning in Peru
Peru's lightning is a story of two worlds. The arid Pacific coast around Lima almost never sees thunderstorms, held down by the cold Humboldt current. Inland, the Andean highlands and especially the Amazon basin around Iquitos storm intensely from October to April, when the wet season fires near-daily afternoon and evening lightning.
