Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the StrikeCastapp and this website (the “Service”), operated by StrikeCast (Kirill Proskurin, Av. Serpa Pinto 534, 4450-277 Matosinhos, Portugal). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. You must be at least 13 (or 16 in the EU/EEA) to use it.
What StrikeCast is
StrikeCast shows real-time lightning information for general awareness: distance to the nearest strike, an approaching / moving-away trend, a map, and optional alerts. Strike data comes from NOAA GOES-GLM, a public U.S. government satellite system.

StrikeCast is an awareness tool, not a protection or safety guarantee. It is not a substitute for official warnings from the National Weather Service or local authorities. Satellite detection has limits in accuracy (roughly ±5–8 miles) and timing (delays up to about two minutes), and alert delivery is not guaranteed. Never rely on StrikeCastalone for life-safety decisions. Follow official guidance — “When thunder roars, go indoors” — and the instructions of local authorities. We make no promise to protect your life or property.
Subscriptions, billing and auto-renewal
StrikeCast offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions (e.g. an annual plan with a free trial, plus monthly and weekly plans) processed by Apple In-App Purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation. Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends; your Apple ID is charged within 24 hours before renewal. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited on purchase. Manage or cancel anytime in App Store → Apple ID → Subscriptions; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms.
Acceptable use
We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the Service. You agree not to copy, modify, reverse-engineer or create derivative works of it (except as permitted by law), disrupt or gain unauthorized access to it, or scrape, resell or redistribute strike data or other content. The Service, software, design and branding are owned by StrikeCast.
Third-party data
Lightning data is provided by NOAA / NESDIS (GOES-GLM); maps by Mapbox. Such third-party data and services are subject to their own terms and provided without warranty. We are not responsible for their accuracy, availability or content.
Disclaimers & limitation of liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant it will be uninterrupted, accurate, or error-free, or that alerts will always be delivered. To the maximum extent permitted by law, StrikeCast and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for personal injury or property damage arising from your use of (or reliance on) the Service; our total liability will not exceed what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
Changes & governing law
We may modify or discontinue the Service and may update these Terms; we will revise the date above and, for material changes, give reasonable notice. These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal and applicable EU law, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence apply.
Apple-specific terms
These Terms are between you and StrikeCastonly, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app. In the event of any failure of the app to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); Apple has no other warranty obligation and is not responsible for addressing claims relating to the app. To the extent there is any conflict, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) governs the license to use the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them.
